Overview

◾Axie Infinity is a blockchain-based gaming ecosystem built around collectible digital creatures called Axies. The ecosystem includes games and experiences such as Axie Infinity: Origins, Axie Classic and Terrariums. AXS is the ecosystem’s ERC-20 governance token. It is used for governance, staking and certain ecosystem activities, while AXS also has roles within the Axie marketplace and community treasury structure. The ecosystem operates across Ronin and Ethereum-related infrastructure, with gameplay, digital collectibles and community participation forming its main areas of use. ◾Axie Infinity is a blockchain gaming ecosystem developed around collectible Axies and a growing collection of games and community experiences. Its ecosystem includes Origins, Classic, Terrariums and other applications built around Axie assets and gameplay. ◾AXS functions as a governance and utility token within the ecosystem. Official Axie documentation identifies staking, governance participation and marketplace-related uses for AXS. AXS stakers can participate in governance and help direct the Community Treasury as the ecosystem develops. ◾The ecosystem has also introduced bAXS, a non-transferable token backed 1:1 by AXS. bAXS can be used for various in-ecosystem actions including breeding, ascension, evolution, forging and staking. This creates a distinction between transferable AXS and ecosystem-focused bAXS activity.
