Overview

◾ Numeraire (NMR) is the utility token of Numerai, a data science and machine-learning platform that combines predictive models submitted by a global community of data scientists. Participants use financial datasets to build models and can stake NMR on their predictions in supported tournaments. Models with positive scoring outcomes can receive NMR payouts, while negative outcomes can result in a portion of the stake being burned. NMR operates on Ethereum and supports Numerai’s incentive system for evaluating prediction quality. The token does not represent equity, ownership, or a claim on Numerai’s hedge fund. ◾ Numeraire (NMR) is an Ethereum-based utility token used within the Numerai ecosystem, which connects data science competitions with quantitative financial modeling. Numerai provides participants with financial datasets to develop machine-learning models that generate predictions about market behavior. ◾ The project’s core approach combines predictions from participating models into an ensemble known as the Meta Model. Numerai uses this combined signal in its investment process. Participants can submit predictions and, when eligible, stake NMR to demonstrate confidence in their models. ◾ NMR staking creates a performance-linked incentive mechanism. Depending on scoring outcomes and the applicable tournament rules, successful stakes may receive additional NMR, while unsuccessful stakes may incur token burns. Staking is optional, and holding NMR does not confer ownership of Numerai or rights to its investment returns. ◾ The ecosystem includes Numerai Tournament, Numerai Signals, and Numerai Crypto, which support different approaches to predictive modeling. Supported staking mechanisms and operational details vary by tournament. ◾ NMR’s established utility is centered on staking, payouts, and token burns. Any future expansion should be treated as planned or unconfirmed unless supported by an official announcement. As an Ethereum-based asset, NMR is also exposed to cryptocurrency market volatility, changes in trading liquidity, and shifts in demand for the Numerai ecosystem.
