Overview

◾Sui is a Layer 1 blockchain for digital assets and applications. Its network uses the Move programming language and an object-based model for representing assets and application data. Developers use Sui to build applications involving payments, trading, gaming, and other onchain activity. SUI is the network’s native token, used to pay transaction fees and participate in staking. The Sui ecosystem also includes trading infrastructure such as DeepBook. Individual applications and their tokens have separate designs and risks; a new application launching on Sui does not by itself establish greater demand for SUI. ◾Sui is a proof-of-stake Layer 1 network designed for programmable digital assets. Its object-based architecture lets applications represent assets as distinct objects, while Move provides the language for writing onchain programs. The network supports transfers and applications across areas such as payments, DeFi, and gaming. SUI is used for network fees and staking, making it distinct from tokens issued by applications built on Sui. ◾One part of the live ecosystem is DeepBook, an onchain liquidity layer. The DeepBook App, launched on September 24, 2026, gives users access to Spot markets and a Predict product. Predict initially supports BTC; the launch announcement describes support for additional assets as a future possibility, not a live feature. Availability of individual products can also vary by jurisdiction. ◾Sui’s broader roadmap and individual ecosystem projects should be assessed separately from capabilities already live on the network. Ecosystem activity can provide context for SUI coverage, but it does not establish a direct effect on the token’s price.
