Overview

TRON is a public Layer-1 blockchain designed to support decentralized applications, digital asset transfers, stablecoins, and decentralized finance. Its network supports smart contracts and applications that use the TRON Virtual Machine, including services built around the TRC-20 token standard. TRX is the network's native cryptocurrency, used for transaction-related resources, staking, and participation in governance. TRON is widely used for stablecoin transfers, particularly USDT transactions. Its ecosystem includes decentralized exchanges, lending protocols, wallets, and payment integrations. Network usage and TRX market performance are separate measures, so growth in transaction activity does not automatically translate into price appreciation. TRON is a blockchain ecosystem founded in 2017, with its mainnet launched in May 2018. It uses a Delegated Proof-of-Stake model in which TRX holders can stake tokens and vote for Super Representatives responsible for block production and network governance. The TRON Virtual Machine enables compatible smart contracts, allowing developers to create decentralized applications, token contracts, and financial services. The network's resource model uses Bandwidth for transaction data and Energy for smart-contract computation. Users can obtain resources through staking or delegation, while additional resource costs may be settled through TRX. A major use case is stablecoin settlement, particularly transfers involving USDT on TRON. The ecosystem also supports decentralized exchanges, lending applications, cross-chain integrations, digital wallets, and payment infrastructure. TRX serves several network functions, including resource access, staking, governance participation, and transaction-related costs. Token supply dynamics, network fees, staking, and token burns are relevant when assessing its economics. Established capabilities include smart contracts, token issuance, staking, governance, and decentralized applications. New integrations and announced ecosystem expansions should be evaluated individually to determine whether they are live, limited to selected partners, or still planned.
